MAY EXTRA POST: Bunnies at my Casa

On Monday, I went to pick up two cute bunnies. I have had the two bunnies for only two days and I am in love with them. I wish I can adopt them. During the two days,  for me I relate it to foster care or foster home because I was taking care of them and providing extra attention. The bunnies names are Socki and Fluffy Pants. This was awesome experience because I got to see how the bunnies do when there are actually in a house. They were really playful and they didn't make a huge mess. Hopefully in the future I will adopt a bunny and make one lucky bunny have a good loving family.

Blog 22: Senior Project Reflection

 (1) Positive Statement

What are you most proud of in your Block Presentation and/or your senior project? Why?
-I am most proud of, was educating my class on my topic which is No-Kill Rescue Shelters because I noticed that my class didn't know what the No-Kill shelter was. I gave my class information on what No-Kill Rescue Shelters do differently than Traditional Shelters. I am also proud of that I made time with my lesson lecture. Also a big improvement was that I was able to present calm and take my time because I was one of those people were I got very nervous and shy and would rush through any presentation. And my senior year I change that fright of presenting to the public. I have improve to, talk loud and make eye contact and be very comfortable talking to the class.

(2) Questions to Consider

a.     What assessment would you give yourself on your Block Presentation (self-assessment)?
AE     P          AP         CR        NC
  • I will give my self an AE, because I am proud of myself, on how confident I was. I enjoyed talking to my class. Educating my class, on what I have learned throughout my 9 month project and talking about my mentorship because this helped me answer me essential question. I was very passionate with my topic because animals need help, support and a family.
 b.     What assessment would you give yourself on your overall senior project (self-assessment)?
AE       P          AP       CR       NC
  • I will give myself an AE because I work very hard. I work at my mentorship, I have experience what animals go through and how much help is needed. I feel good that I have seen many bunnies going home with their new family. I have completed all my components, my research checks, my first and second presentation, my interview. And I am proud of my senior project  on what I have accomplish.
(3) What worked for you in your senior project?
  • During my senior project, my mentorship helped me a lot because I got all my three answers from their. In my presentation I gave many examples using my mentorship experience. My mentor Joanne Rodriguez has help me understand my topic and also gave me advise in the future. Without my mentor, I wouldn't have strong examples on my topic or on my answers. Joanne was nice because I ask her if she can be my mentor and she said yes, once she said yes, she open many doors for me. For examples, she gave me where to look for books to have more quality research. She gave me, where I can go and talk to a vet.
(4) (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would have you done differently to improve your senior project if you could go back in time?
  • If I had a time machine, I would go back to one of my component and would of started my first independent component much earlier because there was a time where the Bunny Bunch was closed during the holiday and I thought volunteers couldn't go. I should of ask and verified my mentor if  Bunny Bunch was close. And at the end I was struggling to get my hours done but the good thing is that I did finish on time.
(5) Finding Value
How has the senior project been helpful to you in your future endeavors?   Be specific and use examples.
-My senior project was really helpful because before I started the 9 month project. I really wanted to do my project on vet tech but I couldn't find anywhere to mentorship because I needed to be a certain age. So I decided to work at the animal shelter and I ended up choosing No-Kill Rescue shelters this was really helpful because it made me realize that I do not want to pursue a career on vet tech because animal shelters usually make an appointment with the vet, to euthanize the animals. I will not put down any animal because I love them, and in future I want to support as many No-Kill Rescue shelters so that the animal has an opportunity to have a loving family.

Blog 21: Mentorship

Content:

    • Literal:
      • Joanne Rodriguez and I did mentorship at The Bunny Bunch Burrow.
    • Interpretive:
      • The most important thing that I gained form this experience, is that in the future, i want to help shelters, because everybody needs the help, and support. From my topic I have learn that maybe I don't want to study to be a vet. From this experience I have gained how to be a responsible pet owner and how little things can affect your pet.  I have gained how to care for the bunnies.
    • Applied:
      • What I have done, to answer my essential question is, that i took care of the animals. I cleaned their habitat, it is necessary to have a cleaned area where they can't catch any diseases.  Throughout the year my mentorship has helped me answer my essential question because my mentor has guide me, and with one her interviews I had answer, where that answer is also my best answer. During my mentorship, I have details or real life examples, where I helped out the animals. For example, I has observed how my mentor gave meds to the bunnies, during that process she was telling why it is important and how it is done. I have help animals by observing them, if i seen anything odd, I have told them and it turns out to be that the bunny was sick. And they have rescue missions and where they rescue them.
