During this whole month, I helped out cleaning the environment of the animals. One day, I believe it was a Thursday or maybe a Tuesday. I was socializing with a bunny because he was so nice and friendly, he would let me pet him but he just didn't let me clean him cage, I don't know how it happen but he ended up peeing on him, it was not a good day for. Plus on that same day, I went up to a chinchilla, and I wasn't even doing nothing wrong but the chinchilla name was lovely, he or she peed on me too. Really not cool. My day just got worse. One of my worse experience at the shelter. But I still love these cute animals :p.

What is the most important reason a person should patronize No-kill rescue shelters over traditional shelters?
Answer #2 (Write in a complete sentence like a thesis statement)*
A consumer should patronize a no kill because it helps you understand if you are ready to be a responsible pet owner or adopt.
3 details to support the answer (a detail is a fact and an example)
- Many people want a pet but they don't know if they are ready to have time to have some sort of activity.
- If a consumer is about to adopt a pet, do they have the money to take care of them, to provide for them, to cover the expensive things that the pet needs.
- Are the consumer going to have patience, with barking, training etc.
The research source (s) to support your details and answer
- Interview 3
Concluding Sentence
Many people want pets but don't know if they are ready to be fully responsible, commitment, patience, billings of the animals. Consumers should ask themselves or should be ready to response to some questions relating to animal caring etc.

1. Describe in detail what you plan to do for your 30 hours.
1. Describe in detail what you plan to do for your 30 hours.
- For, my independent component 2, I plan on doing extra mentorship. Also plan to visit different kinds of shelter, just to see around and talk to the workers to tell me if it is a god animal shelters, so like pretty much like minis interview. .
2. Discuss how or what you will do to meet the expectation of showing 30 hours of evidence.
- How I plan to show evidence on my independent component is by taking pictures on what I do during my day of volunteering. I also plan to have a sheet when I sign up and take picture on that so it can show I do go through those days.
3. And explain how what you will be doing will help you explore your topic in more depth.
- Since I been volunteering with bunnies, I want to see how an animal shelter does it differently, like be more involved with dogs and cats. With the research that I have done, I have learned a lot about dogs and cats, and I think it is important to experience it in person.
4. Post a log on the right hand side of your blog near your other logs and call it the independent component 2 log.

Blog 14: Independent Component 1
Content:
- Literal
- " I, Elizabeth Valle, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 30 hours of work."
- I did extra mentorship, my mentor is Joanne R. Also I did more research on Adoption and my pervious notes on euthanized. Here are some links from my research that helped me on my component:
articles/savingbuddyspcadog. htm - http://namastefarms.com/high-
kill-shelters-saving-shelter- pets/ - http://www.examiner.com/
article/local-high-kill- shelter-to-be-site-of- national-protest - http://www.peta.org/features/
turned-away-closer-look-kill/ - Here's my Log link
- During my mentorship I do the same thing, I cleaned the bunnies cages, change water, put hay, veggies, I also observed how they great the animals, what goes on, like I was having a conversation with one of the volunteer's and she told me that bunny bunch took in three or five bunnies in, they were ,left in front of there shelter.
- Interpretive
- My independent component really helped me because it gave me more ideas on my possible answers. I took my time to understand what I do in mentorship is helpful because these animals really to need help. Also like I mention before, it helped me answer my essential question on how no kill shelters take in animals when they are abandoned right in front of there shelter. No kill shelter don't euthanize adoptable pets, they have the chance to have a better job. Here at the bottom are some pictures on what I do for mentorship and how meaningful it is to do the job. I like being with the animals and also helping out the customers out.
This picture show where the veggies are located.
These two pictures on top, is me cleaning the rabbits cages.
This was the firs time I cleaned the guinea pigs cage out. Also about tree pigs have babies and they are focus to get them spay or neutered so the supply wont multiply and other guinea pigs have the chance to find a home.
This is a picture of rats. I didn't know they can be pets. They were taken in because they had no where to go and then Joanne say that they called a lady that I believe is on charged of rats being alright.
These bunnies are in the office, the bunnies only go to the office when they are sick and that's when Joanne gives them there Meds.
These pictures are adoptions forms, this gave me an idea for a possible answer to my essential questions. Also I have observed how Joanne manages the adoptions and I like the fact that she goes over the form with the customer because she wants to know if the pet is going to a good home and that they can provide things to the pet.
- Here's a link on my other post that shows work on my Independent component:
- Applied
- My Independent Component helped me understand my topic better but it also provide me examples to talk about it during my lesson 2 presentation. It helped me have evidence on how No- kill shelters treat or provide the animals but also when animal gets really sick they immediately take care of the animal and then taken to the vet. It helped my defined more parts on the background that I didn't even know. Also with this experience I can use this towards my final presentation. The research that I have done that talks about the backgrounds of the different kinds of shelters and No kill shelters told the truth like I can say that yes No-kill does not euthanized adoptable animals and yes other shelters do euthanized animals when they don't have enough space. Like all the things that I have read about No kill shelters are true because I talk about it with my mentor.
