Merry X-mas

December what a great month it was. As usually I helped out, in Bunny Bunch not much as, I wanted to because since there are holidays, the days I wanted to help out were closed. I have really looking forward to help during my winter break but the bunny bunch were out for holidays. I will start helping out till next year he he.
Not only are bunnies waiting to find a home but also the guinea pigs and chinchillas at the Bunny Bunch. Also think of other animals that want to be loved just like the doggies, cats, birds etc.

About five to ten bunnies were adopted in this month. Hurray to them. But there are others also waiting, just keep that in mind.
The Bunny Bunch needs donation from us. To give a little for these adorable animals.

December is the month of joy, cheers, happiness, love and many more things. Many bunnies, guinea pigs and chinchillas are waiting to find a wonderful home.
Look at the cute bunnies ready to celebrate Christmas with a good family to love them and care for them. There Christmas wish is to be adopted, well have a family XD.

EQ

 Content

1. I reviewed the rule of three for writing an EQ.

Essential Question
Once a topic is chosen, the student will develop a working essential question.  The purpose of the working essential question is to help the student build a strong foundation of research which will allow him or her to create an essential question that encourages depth and rigor in the chosen topic.  An essential question must:
  • Provide a framework for studies (It calls for breadth and depth of research, Is not a yes/no question)
  • Takes a stance (Allows you to argue some point, Cannot be a recitation of facts or a list)
  •  Format (It is specific, The wording makes sense)
2.  Review the following EQs and
  • Tell us if it meets the rule of 3 criteria.
  • Tell why it does or why it doesn't
 a.  What is the most important factor in healthy weight loss?
This EQ does meet the rule of three because it isn't a yes and no questions, I believe that it will have enough and more research on weight loss.
  b.  What is most important to securing a conviction in a criminal investigation?
It sounds good but it does not meet rule of three criteria because I believe the question needs to be specific even more.
  c.  What is most important in creating a hairstyle that best satisfies a customer?
This does not meet the criteria  because it is mostly an opinion, and also this essential question wont have many research.
  d.  How can an Anesthesiologist best treat chronic pain?
This EQ does meet the rule of three because there can be many information on this topic.
 3.  Based on your review of the rule of 3 and your experience with assessing four EQs, please write another draft EQ for your senior project.
  • What is the most important reason to get people to switch to a No Kill Rescue shelter and to be well informed of a Traditional Animal shelter?

Meet the baby Guinea Pigs

Baby Piggy's

This white and gray guinea pig was born today. The mommy gave birth to two guinea pigs.

I also found out that another guinea pig had two piggy's and they are about two weeks old.

This one of the baby guinea pig.( Two weeks old)

Today was a good day to do mentorship because I was their when the babies where born. And also I learned that when they are born they tend to be active like they have there eyes wide open and start to run  really fast because they hide from predators.

Bunny Bunch Expo!

The Bunny Bunch Expo is  fundraising for the bunnies. Also has different kinds of booths to help out these lovable animals.

This is a flyer of the Bunny Expo has different kinds of information on what booths there were.
This was the entrance of the booths or the expo.
These are guinea pigs also part of the Bunny Expo and like the piggy's and the bunnies they had a little note saying feed me. And by donating money the people would feed them veggies.
This was the grooming spa. I was in charge of this booth and the photo contest. I groom about 30 loveable bunnies.
This a picture the lady is a vet, she was talking to the people how its important to care for their animals. An interested thing is that bunnies vet is called an exotic vet.

It was a wonderful day to help out in this event. :)

Research and Working EQ

Content:

1.  What is your working EQ?

What is the most important reason to switch to a NO Kill Rescue than a traditional shelter?

2.  What is a possible answer to your working EQ? Please write the answer in thesis format.  Examples:

EQ: What is the most important reason to switch to a NO Kill Rescue than a traditional shelter?
  • take abandoned animals
  • its a better environment
  • have care for any type of animals
  • adoption there very carefully if the animal has a good home
  • rescues animals from High Kill / Kill shelters

3.  What is the most important source you have used that has helped you come up with an answer to your working EQ?

Maddie's  Fund is an important source that helped understand my senior topic but also gave me an idea on what my answers should be. Also another source that helped even more was my second interview which was Joanne, she helped me understand about the animals that we can't save all animals.

4.  Who is your mentor, or where are you volunteering, and how does what you are doing relate to your working EQ?

My mentor is Joanne, I volunteer at Bunny Bunch. What I do at Bunny Bunch is clean the cages, change the water, give veggies but I also observed animal behavior, I believe what I am doing relates to my EQ because everything that a animal does, matters and also how different animal act.

Independent Component 1 Approval

Content:
1.  Describe in detail what you plan to do for your 30 hours.

For my 30 hours, I plan to keep doing hours at Bunny Bunch. For the 30 hours I thinking to work close with my mentor on how she runs Bunny Bunch  but  I am not entirely sure about this, I still need to talk to my mentor Joanne, to see if there is something meaningful that can do for Bunny Bunch that will take 30 hours of work.

2.  Discuss how or what you will do to meet the expectation of showing 30 hours of evidence.

I love taking pictures of anything that is interesting, cute and this is how I plan to show evidence of my 30 hours, but also take short videos, and  I was thinking to do a voice recording of any important questions that I come up with.

3.  And explain how what you will be doing will help you explore your topic in more depth.

Since I plan on doing an extra 30 hours at Bunny Bunch, this will help me explore more my topic which is " No Kill Rescue Shelter". I will be learning new things like care for the small mammals, where or how do animals get to Bunny Bunch, or see how my mentor runs Bunny Bunch. Also see animal behavior and how they improve and when they are ready to be adopted.

Meet the Burrow

Meet the burrow! This is where I do my mentorship at Bunny Bunch. These bunnies are lovable, caring, playful animals. Hopefully, as the days pass they will get adopted. They need a lovable family to look after them. Not only do bunnies need a family but also the chinchillas and the guinea pigs.

Meet the burrow.
(This is where I'm usually at. I clean their pens and sometimes pet them.)

This is a Chinchilla.

Blog 5: Project Reflection and Working EQ

 Content:

So far, you have: completed your summer mentorship, started doing some research, maybe completed the interview and hopefully found a mentor.

Using what you have done so far, answer the following 5 questions (be specific and use examples).

The Pentagon:
(1) Positive Statement: What positive thing happen as a result of what you have completed so far?
A positive thing that has happen was finding one mentor that is willing to help me out. Also finding good information that has helped me a lot on my senior topic/project because it has given me the right information that I need, or plan to need for my EQ, but also an idea, on what I am planning on studying for my career.

 (2) EQ Content:  Pick a piece of research or your interview.  How has it helped you improve your understanding of your topic?
My interview has helped me understand so much, because it's not easy to lose an animal's life, and it's hard to take care of them, when its sick, or loosing an innocent life of a loveable animal. Also the research that I have gotten is really helpful because it gives me a producer how to take care of the small animals. It is good to know what's going on or have an idea, with the animal, cause you never what's going to happen.

 (3) What has worked for you so far in the senior project?
My research has helped me, because it has given me a better understanding on the small animals(rabbits, guinea pigs and chinchillas). Like before I started volunteering or looking for information on it, I thought they didn't have a lot of problems but they do, and with the all the research and the interview I have done, it has helped me understand.

(4) What hasn't worked so far?
What hasn't worked for me would be finding a good book, even though I have articles, I want to get a view on a book to see what other information is given, but I am still looking for them in my library. Also my scheduled hasn't been working for me, because I have so much things to do, but I am working on it, cause I don't want to miss any days that I signed up for, because it has happen to me, for example, last week I was supposed to go on Tuesday but I had to call and cancelled because I had tutoring which it is important to me cause I don't want to fall behind. So right now I am seeing which days are good for me, so far Saturdays are alright for now.

(5) Finding Value:
  •  What is a potential question you would like to study this year?  (working EQ)
What is the important reason to switch to a No-Kill Rescue shelter than a traditional animal shelter.
  •  What do you plan to do for mentorship?  If you haven't found a mentor yet, then discuss where you are currently looking and who you are talking to find it.
What I plan to do to for mentorship is help at the shelter with my mentor Joanne, and to be involved in a booth or an adoption day event, or any kinds of events, be involved in a activity and also to see if I am allow to give the animal their meds or at least observed seeing how they do it and why those meds. Also I plan on looking for another mentor, that Joanne has recommended me to check out(vet tech), because it will help me out in my senior project but also in my career.

Ouch!!!

It was during the summer mentorship when I experience, that a bunny bit me. It all started good, my mom drop me off, I went inside all confident, that nothing will happen. Like always I would have to sign in, and then go to the back , to start cleaning. So I started to clean the cages, which are nasty but the bunnies are so cute. After I was done cleaning the cages, I change the water, because everyday at least once a day the water needs to be clean out. Since it was a Tuesday, normally the store is close but they have it open because customer's sometimes come, but that day I had to leave early because we had finish everything, and they ask me," what time is your mom picking you up because we have to leave cause there is a meeting." I said." she's on her way." So Joanne asked me if I wanted to carry a bunny, I was like why not, what could go wrong. I went to the back to chose out a bunny. I choice a bunny that looked so nice his name is Montey, he is 8 years old. Joanne showed me how to carry him, so when I got him, I felt it coming, Montey didn't like me, well that's what I think. I was walking to the back, I felt him chewing on my name tag, in my mind I was like please don't bite me. NO, NO, NO! I took him away from my chest. AND right away when I took him away from me, he BITE me. At that moment  I didn't know what to do, first thing that's came up in mind, I want to drop the bunny, cause I cared more about my cut, but I didn't because its a bunny, they have feeling, plus the place is a No Kill Rescue. The cut hurt like a paper cut. So I was bleeding to death, just kidding.

Blog 4: Interview Preparation

Content:

1.  Who do you plan to interview?  Why?
I plan on interviewing Joanne one of my mentors, she works at Bunny Burrow, where I do my mentorship hours. Well I want to interview her because I think she will have good answers for me, that will help me out, in my senior project and career too and also because she has experience in her job. Also I have made observations on how she treats the animals and what to do, if something is wrong, and I feel comfortable around her.

2.  You have to ask 5 questions.  What additional questions do you plan to ask?  Ask open-ended questions.
Some open-ended questions, that I plan to ask are:
  • What part do you work in , like adoption, education, manager??
  • What is the hardest part of your job?
  • What is the most important part of your job you enjoy doing?
  • How long have you been working in Bunny Burrow?
  • How did you get interested in helping bunnies?
  • What schooling did you take?

Blog 3: Topic Choice and Semester 1 ESLR Goals

Content (Directions): Answer the following 2 questions.

1. I am not exactly sure what my topic name is,but its about helping animals but it would be called No kill Rescue Shelter.

2. iPoly Citizen
In order to show growth in Ipoly citizen, I will show perfect attendance, although it wont be a problem with me because I always go to school, I hate missing a day of school because I lose a lesson that will affect my grade, I don't wan that to happen. I will show complete work for any courses and projects. I will respect all people because what I have learn in Iploy we are a big family.  Also help others if needed like questions on project homework.
Effective Learner
I have always been bad on taking tests and quizzes and I want to improve this, by having time and studying for them. By reviewing everything and remembering it will help me a lot because I will improve on my learning skills. Also in every core I will take better notes and will ask for my friends notes to get a better understanding or if I miss anything important for that lesson. This year I will learn many things on my senior topic by myself and this will help me in the future because I will have learned and will be prepare for college.
Effective User of Technology
In senior year, I will show growth in technology even more. As of right now, I am already showing and learning growth, for example the blog I had no idea how to do it, by the teachers showing us it help me a lot. As the days will pass I will incorporate technology into my learning because without technology I wouldn't have my information for my project. Also to be show even more growth I would not only ask the teachers but also my friends or classmates for help.
Effective Communicator
As a communicator, this year I will participate in every course because I am very shy when it comes to presenting, or even participating in classes but I know that I shouldn't cause it affects my grade but I am so shy in front of everyone just staring at me. I want to show growth this year  on  talking loud and clear in order for my classmates to hear me. I plan on joining clubs or committees to get over my fear or my shyness when it comes to presenting. If I get lost in anything like my courses or my project, I will ask questions, I don't want to be shy on that too. Another example would be the model assembly or senior project presentation, by the end of the year I be known or people to notice that I am no longer the shy girl in the class.

Blog 2: Summer Mentorship Component

Literal

1. Mentorship Log
2. Caroline or Joanne (909) 626-3946
3. ( Need to Know)
  • Where do mostly all the bunnies came from, are they a banded or abused?
  • Are the chinchillas and guinea pigs abused too?
  • If there abused is it the child fought for not knowing how to take care of them?
  • How many warnings do the bunnies do till they bit someone?
  • Do bunnies get sick or guinea pigs or the chinchilla?
  • What kind of shots do they get?
  • How often do they get treats?
  • Over feeding them with veggies do they get sick?
  • What are some other problems  that the animals have?
Interpretive

4.The most important thing that I gained from this experience is that there is adoptions for bunnies, chinchillas and guinea pigs and how there looking for a home with lots of care and love. Also that some of these animals are banded or even abused and they care of them until recovered and then the animals would wait for an adoptions. This is very important because out there in the world are other animals like dogs and cats waiting to be adopted, and I didn't think there was a problem with bunnies, chinchillas and guinea pigs, so I learned something new.

Applied

5. I wanted to help out with dogs but I was having problems looking for a place, until I ask Ortega for help. She send me some places and there I saw a link called Bunny Bunch so I was like I didn't know that the bunnies needed help too. So I decided to checked it out and gave a shot and I liked it. I wanted my topic to be about animals because I loved animals and I want to help them out. I want to be a vet because your helping other living beings. I wanted to be with dogs but I had to be 18 years old but I'm not so I try out the bunny burrow because I knew there were animals and I just want to help other different creatures out. I like to compare it us the human because everyone has feelings and so do animals and everyone needs help so why not help out the bunnies too or any animals out there. So it was good information so far because I learned something new.

1) The presentations that I view were:
  • Graphic Design- Stephany
  • Physical Therapy- Elizabeth
  • Hair Dressing- Ana
  • Foster Care- Victoria
  • Computer Analysis- Brent
  • Photography- Austin
  • Theoretical Physic- Hannah
  • Homeless Youth- Angel
  • Stage Managing -Gabriel
  • Marine Biology- Elijah
  • Personal Training- Andrew
  • Special Olymipic- Logan
2) I have no questions to the senior presentations. I still wonder what other components are there like the step by step to get to the two hour presentation or how to do an EQ for my topic.

3)The most important part in the senior project would be the EQ because during the presentations the seniors would go back to their EQ and have their three answers and they would describe there answers in good details.

4) I'm not sure what topic I am going to do but I do have some ideas, which are; vetex, hair dressing, or police officer because in vetex there are animals which I love but also in vetex you are the nurse so I will behelping out the animals. In hair dressing, well I just think the hairstyles are cool. Police officer because well  I am not sure I just want to try it out. I am considering on doing one of these topics because I like the topics. So I am still debating on which one I should do.
